Personal 365 Project - Week 9
I am challenging myself to document the authentic, in-between moments for my family. This is what our 2017 looks like . . .
Feb 26 Henry, you are always doing something with your hands. We just finished a little family game of soccer and went out for gelato (you chose a vanilla milkshake, as per usual). You’re always the first one finished, and Anna always brings up the rear – it has been this way since you were babies. You had to find something to do, so you busied yourself with the straws.
Feb 27 We were on our way to run an errand and I looked in the backseat and saw Anna busily working in one of her new word puzzle books – this one was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Allen. Crossword puzzles and word searches are new favorite pastimes for you.
We were on our way to the village park and you both looked up and saw these geese in V-formation. You were very impressed and began telling me all sorts of interesting facts about migrating birds. Later that day, Henry, you noticed a picture of fighter jets in formation and made a joke that they must be migrating, too.
You are always excited when you get to check the mailbox. Who knows what treasure could be inside!
March is certainly coming in like a lion! It has been incredibly windy all week and we had our first real storm since living in Virginia. I think our year in Qatar made you forget the sights and sounds of a big thunderstorm and I had two nervous little cubs last night. I told you that we should braid your hair today so it wouldn’t get too windblown and tangled, but you insisted on wearing it loose. We’ll have tangled to battle tonight!
You two love these windmills! They are indeed impressive.
It never fails. School mornings I struggle to wake you and get to look at grumpy faces until we leave for the bus – but weekends – any weekend morning you two are bright eyed and bushy tailed well before the sun rises. This morning you two came calling at a moderately reasonable 0530. After we snuggled and you guys got tickled, Anna said, “Isn’t it weird how on weekends we get up before you wake us up?!” Mmmmhmmm. Yes. It is very weird, Anna.
