Personal 365 Project | Week 14 - Ramstein Family Photographer

April 8, 2017

I am challenging myself to document the authentic, in-between moments for my family. This is what our 2017 looks like . . .

Apr 2

Daddy returned from a work trip with a bit of a stomach bug and promptly gave it to both of you. You two got sick about an hour apart last night and were up several times last night. By this afternoon you were both on the mend, and though clearly exhausted, you couldn’t stand the thought of resting in bed. Eventually, Henry, I got you to come lay in bed with me and within a few minutes you were fast asleep.

This week is your Spring Break, and we had tickets to the Canary Islands. You two were super excited to spend a week on the beach! With my leg in a cast, a long flight and a salty, sandy vacation was not in the cards for me, so Daddy and I gave you two the choice of going without me or staying home. You both chose to stay home, with the promise of a beach vacation in the near future – and though it pained your Daddy, we had to consider the airfare a sunk cost. Today, Daddy took you to Legoland, so I’m home alone. I chose to try to capture a bit of the beautiful springtime – though looking up and balancing on uneven ground on crutches while trying to get just the right composition is a lot more difficult than it seems! I got creative and took this shot from the sunroof of our car.

Apr 4

Of course you returned from Legoland with treasure! Henry has a new gas station to build and Anna has 3 Beanie Boo babies to assist. You found the sunny spot in the house and set up a workstation.

Apr 5

We were all outside enjoying the sun when we heard the familiar buzz of a bee. Anna, you went running and screaming for the backdoor and refused to come back out. Sidenote: those are whiskers on your face, drawn on a whim several hours earlier.

Apr 6

What’s better than the changing of the seasons?

Apr 7

You two had just come back from playing in the park across the street. I wonder what you’re talking about.

Apr 8

Your curiosity about WWII continues to grow, so today we took a trip to the Luxembourg American Cemetery. You asked important questions and stopped to view the gravestone of General Patton.
